William DeBilzan

William DeBilzan is a self-taught artist whose work reflects a journey of personal discovery and creative expression. Born in Texas and raised in Michigan, his art is deeply rooted in family values and the experiences of his life. After moving to Southern California in his twenties and running a construction business for nearly two decades, DeBilzan found his true passion in painting during a challenging period in his mid-thirties. His paintings quickly gained attention, leading him to open his first gallery in Laguna Beach in 1991.

Known for his distinctive elongated figures, rich textures, and vibrant color palette, DeBilzan explores themes of loneliness, friendship, and love, drawing from his own experiences but leaving his work open to viewer interpretation. His art often evokes feelings of freedom and playfulness, capturing the essence of the ocean and Caribbean Islands. Over the years, DeBilzan has opened galleries in Santa Fe and Delray Beach, exhibiting both domestically and internationally. His work includes high-profile installations such as a mural at the Marriott Central Park and paintings in the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Now focused on his Delray Beach gallery, DeBilzan continues to create from his tiki-style studio, infusing his art with “good vibes” that resonate with his collectors.
